Kia sells 32,017 cars in September 2026, up 41 per cent on last year

Kia India recorded domestic sales of 32,017 units in September 2026, against 22,700 units in September 2025. That is a 41 per cent rise year on year and 10 per cent more than the 29,042 units sold in August 2026. The new-generation Seltos did most of the lifting.

Overall numbers and market share

Kia held fifth position among manufacturers in September. Its market share rose from 6.0 per cent a year ago to 7.0 per cent. Month on month, volumes grew 10 per cent over August.

Seltos and Sonet carry the brand

The Seltos was Kia's largest seller at 12,593 units, against 5,816 in September 2025 and 11,716 in August 2026. That is a 117 per cent jump year on year and 7 per cent month on month. The difference of 6,777 units over last September made it the biggest contributor to Kia's annual increase. The Sonet came second at 9,493 units, against 9,020 a year ago and 9,048 in August, a gain of 5 per cent on both. Together the Seltos and Sonet sold 22,086 units, around 69 per cent of Kia's September sales.

Carens, Syros, Sorento and Carnival

The Carens sold 6,319 units, down 14 per cent from 7,338 units in September 2025 but up 4 per cent from 6,093 in August. The Syros posted the highest year-on-year increase among Kia models with comparable numbers: 1,848 units against 465 in September 2025, up 297 per cent, and 1,742 units in August. The Sorento sold 1,739 units after just 365 units in August, a 376 per cent month-on-month jump. The Carnival sold 25 units against 61 a year earlier and 78 in August 2026, a fall of 59 per cent year on year and 68 per cent month on month.

What it means for buyers

Kia's September is a Seltos story. More than a third of the brand's annual growth came from one SUV, and with the Sonet it makes up roughly seven in ten Kias sold. For buyers, the numbers show where the demand sits: the compact and mid-size SUVs, with the Syros growing fast from a small base. The Carens is the only volume model that slipped on last year, and the Carnival has dwindled to 25 units.
