Who gained and who slipped

7 of the 10 models grew year on year and 3 slipped. The Activa made the largest gain in the table, adding 1,14,555 units. The Apache grew 14.67 per cent and the Classic 350 grew 16.90 per cent. The Bajaj Pulsar fell 12.51 per cent to 1,36,313 units, the steepest drop in the table. The HF Deluxe and the Access also slipped, by 3.37 per cent and 0.43 per cent.

The Splendor and Activa gap

Put the Hero models together and the Splendor and HF Deluxe add up to 5,45,343 units. The Activa and Shine together make 5,42,212 units, so Honda's two models are close behind Hero's pair.

What it means for buyers

These are sales figures for the month, so they show what people bought, not which bike is better. Still, the Activa's climb tells you scooter demand is strong, and the Splendor remains the default choice for commuter motorcycles. If you are considering a Pulsar, the fall in its numbers is worth noting, but check the on-road price and dealer offers in your city before you decide.
