Kia Sorento sells 1,739 units in its first month on sale

The Kia Sorento sold 1,739 domestic wholesale units in September 2026, its first month on sale after launching on September 4. That made it Kia India's fifth best-selling model that month, and about 5% of the company's September wholesales. Including 365 units dispatched to dealers in August before launch, total wholesales stand at 2,104.

Sales and Kia's month

Kia India's September 2026 wholesales were 32,017 units, up 41% year on year. It is the company's highest monthly total and its first month above 30,000 units. The previous monthly record was 29,556 units in October 2025. From April to September 2026, Kia India wholesaled 1,68,683 units, up 29% year on year. Q2 FY2027 came to 89,259 units, up 39% year on year and 12% above Q1 FY2027. These are wholesale numbers, meaning dispatches to dealers, not retail registrations.

Elsewhere in the range, the Seltos did 67,667 units in H1 FY2027, up 99%, which is 40% of total wholesales. The Sonet did 56,929 units, up 21%, or 34% of the total. The Carens range, covering the Carens, Carens Clavis and Clavis EV, did 34,284 units, down 18%.

Price and variants

The Sorento is priced from Rs 27.99 lakh to Rs 40.39 lakh ex-showroom. It comes in 6-seat and 7-seat layouts.

Engine and performance

There are 2 powertrains. The 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong-hybrid pairs a 180hp petrol engine with a 65hp electric motor, with 265Nm from the petrol engine and 264Nm from the electric motor. The 2.2-litre turbo-diesel makes 193hp and 442Nm.
