Tata Nexon EV now gets BaaS along with Sierra and Harrier

Tata Nexon EV buyers can now choose Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), a payment option that separates the battery cost from the car price. Tata Motors has extended the scheme to the Nexon EV, Curvv EV, Sierra EV and Harrier EV, making BaaS available across its electric car range.

How Tata Nexon EV BaaS works

Under BaaS, the battery is paid for separately instead of being included entirely in the upfront vehicle cost. This reduces the initial amount a buyer needs to pay for the car, while the battery cost is handled through a separate monthly payment.

The monthly battery payment depends on factors including the battery size and down payment. The exact amount will therefore vary between different Tata EVs and configurations.

Which Tata EVs get BaaS

The expanded BaaS option now covers four Tata electric cars:

• Tata Nexon EV
• Tata Curvv EV
• Tata Sierra EV
• Tata Harrier EV

The option was previously available only with the Tata Tiago EV and Tata Punch EV. Its expansion means buyers considering Tata's newer electric models can also look at a lower upfront purchase structure.

What this means for buyers

For someone shopping for a Tata EV this month, BaaS changes how the purchase cost is spread. Instead of paying the full battery cost as part of the initial vehicle price, the buyer pays separately for the battery over time.

However, buyers should compare the upfront car payment and the recurring battery payment together before deciding. The lower initial price does not mean the battery cost disappears; it is shifted into the separate monthly payment structure.
