Electric Range Rover and Sport to reach India as full imports in 2027

Range Rover global managing director Martin Limpert said the electric SUVs will "definitely" be seen in India towards the second half of 2027. The expected price of the Range Rover Sport Electric is ₹2.40 crore. This is an expected figure, not an announced one, so treat it as a guide until JLR confirms it.

Why full imports

JLR locally assembles the petrol and diesel versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India. The electric versions will not follow that route at first. The India-UK FTA does not give EVs any concessions for the first 5 years. Local production of the electric versions is a possibility at a later point. Limpert said, "We'll test the market first, see how it responds and then we will decide" on local assembly.

Platform

The electric Range Rover and Range Rover Sport share the MLA-Flex platform, which stands for Modular Longitudinal Architecture. They are built on the same manufacturing line as the ICE versions.

Why India matters to JLR

Over 80 percent of JLR's sales in financial year 2026 came from the Defender, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. That makes these two models central to what the company sells here.
