Delhi parking capacity expansion adds 6,400 vehicle spaces

Delhi is expected to add parking capacity for about 6,400 vehicles by the end of October as part of a wider plan covering 81 new surface parking sites. • City-Sadar Paharganj: 4 sites
• Karol Bagh: 4 sites
• West: 3 sites

Rohini also has 3 sites, while South has 2 and Central and Civil Lines have 1 site each. The locations include areas near commercial hubs, markets and hospitals, with parking being planned according to available land.

More sites are still to be taken up

The 34 sites are only part of the wider programme. Another 30 sites are being processed for finalising agencies to operate the parking lots, while the remaining 17 sites are planned for tendering during October after mapping is completed.

The wider expansion is therefore not limited to the 34 sites already in the tender process. For vehicle owners, the practical benefit will depend on where the new facilities actually open and how accessible they are in areas where parking demand is high.
