Hyundai H2OPE adds water facilities to 134 Gadchiroli schools

Hyundai Motor India Foundation has invested Rs 2.95 crore to add water facilities to 134 government schools in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district under its H₂OPE initiative. The latest phase is expected to benefit around 26,000 students, teachers, school staff and people from nearby communities.

134 schools receive water facilities

The latest phase expands access to drinking-water facilities across government schools in the district. The project is aimed at improving access to usable water for students and school communities.

The investment covers facilities intended to address the day-to-day water needs of the schools. The initiative is part of Hyundai Motor India Foundation’s wider work in Gadchiroli.

H₂OPE expands its reach

With the latest additions, the H₂OPE initiative now covers 384 government schools in Gadchiroli. The foundation had earlier covered 250 schools in the district.

The programme has been running since FY2023-24 and has received a total investment of Rs 8.36 crore so far. More than one lakh students across the district have been reached through the initiative.

What this phase covers

The Rs 2.95 crore phase includes water-related equipment and facilities for the 134 schools:

• RO units with water purification systems
• Water coolers for students and staff
• Six-layer tanks for water storage
• TDS and pH meters for water quality checks

The latest phase alone covers around 26,000 beneficiaries, including students, teachers, school employees and people from nearby communities. That gives the project a reach beyond the students using the schools every day.

Focus on continued access

The H₂OPE initiative is focused on improving water access in government schools across Gadchiroli. With the latest phase, the number of schools covered has increased substantially, while the programme’s stated reach has crossed one lakh students across the district.

For the schools involved, the value of the project depends on the water facilities remaining usable after installation. Expanding coverage across 134 additional schools therefore increases the number of school communities with access to dedicated water infrastructure.
