2027 Hyundai Tucson global reveal details

Hyundai has just given us a first look at the upcoming 2027 Hyundai Tucson during a media event in South Korea ahead of its domestic launch in October 2026. This generational update brings larger dimensions and new powertrain options, though Hyundai has not shared any official plans to bring the fifth generation model to India yet.

Powertrain and technical upgrades

The next-gen model moves away from the older engine choices found on the current Indian version, bringing in fresh options configured for global markets.

• 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine making 193hp and 265Nm with an 8-speed automatic
• 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid system pushing a combined 245hp
• Claimed mileage of 17.4kpl for the hybrid version with Inertial Driving Guidance
• Drag coefficient reduced from 0.33 to 0.30 using active air flaps and a rear bumper spoiler

Dimensions and chassis changes

The 2027 Hyundai Tucson has grown compared to the outgoing model, gaining 60mm in length, 40mm in width, and 30mm on the wheelbase. Hyundai has reinforced the front suspension mounting points and added a new suspension valve to better control body movement and reduce road shocks. Refinement has also improved through revised engine mounts, dashboard sound-deadening, and thicker door glass.

Interior tech and safety features

The cabin gets a major overhaul with a floating-style dashboard, a D-cut steering wheel, a slim digital driver display, and large 12.9-inch or 17-inch touchscreens. Safety takes a step forward with nine airbags as standard, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, and a memory-based reverse assist function. It also features the brand-new Pleos Connect system with built-in Gleo AI and third-party app support.
