Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Launch Date and Expected Updates

Volkswagen Virtus is heading for a facelift, and the latest test car has been spotted on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway with much less camouflage than before. For anyone planning to buy a midsize sedan during the festive season, the timing matters because the updated Virtus is expected to arrive soon.

Virtus facelift launch timing

The updated Virtus is expected to make its debut around the festive season, with a possible launch next month. Volkswagen introduced the Virtus Anniversary Edition last month, while its sister model Skoda Slavia has already received its mid-life update. The updated Slavia is expected to reach customers later this month, which gives some context to the Virtus timeline.

For buyers considering a Virtus right now, the facelift is close enough to be worth keeping in mind before making a fresh booking. The exact launch date has not been confirmed yet.

What changes on the Virtus front

The latest test car keeps the existing bonnet and overall proportions, while the front and rear remain covered. The main expected changes are around the lighting, grille and bumpers rather than a completely new design.

The side profile appears largely unchanged, with the doors, window line, roof and overall silhouette carried over. At the rear, the boot and bumper are still heavily camouflaged, while the visible tail lamps show two horizontal LED elements on each side.

Virtus could get the Slavia's updates

The Virtus and Slavia share their underlying architecture and powertrains, so several changes already introduced on the Slavia are expected to reach Volkswagen's sedan as well. The 1.0-litre TSI is expected to continue with around 115 PS and 178 Nm, while the 1.5-litre TSI should continue with around 150 PS and 250 Nm with the 7-speed DSG.

The bigger mechanical change could be the 8-speed torque-converter automatic for the 1.0-litre TSI, replacing the current 6-speed automatic. Expected equipment changes include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, updated infotainment, a 360-degree camera and more convenience features, although variant-wise availability will only be clear at launch.
