Mahindra Thar 3 Door Facelift Price And New Grille Details

Mahindra is working on a more substantial facelift for the Thar 3-door, and the latest test mule gives an early look at the changes being considered. The biggest visible update is at the front, while the engine range is expected to remain largely unchanged. There is no confirmed launch timeline yet, so buyers who do not need a Thar immediately may want to wait for the updated model.

Mahindra Thar 3-door gets a new grille

Earlier test vehicles had shown a grille resembling the Thar Roxx's double-stacked six-slat design. This latest mule instead features a five-slot grille with a small horizontal intrusion on the right, which could be intended to accommodate a badge.

The different grille designs make it unclear what the final production version will look like. One possibility is that Mahindra could use different grille designs for separate editions. New five-spoke alloy wheels are also visible on the test vehicle, adding another exterior change.

Thar 3-door engine options may stay the same

The facelift is expected to retain the existing 1.5-litre diesel, 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engines. Their current outputs are expected to remain at 119hp, 132hp and 152hp respectively. A six-speed manual is offered across the range.

Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift price expectations

The current Thar 3-door is priced at Rs 10.32 lakh to Rs 18 lakh ex-showroom. The facelift is expected to command a slight premium over the current model, although Mahindra has not confirmed the facelift price yet.

For buyers considering a Thar this year, the absence of a confirmed launch timeline makes the decision less straightforward. If there is no immediate need for the SUV, waiting could make sense if the updated grille, new wheels and electric steering make it to production without major changes.
