Mahindra Thar facelift design changes and new features coming

Mahindra is working on a major update for the Thar lifestyle off-road SUV, moving the model into its next phase with a proper facelift. The upcoming version brings design updates and new features that align it closer to the 5-door Thar Roxx while retaining the basic 3-door DNA.

Changes coming to the exterior

Spy shots show that the Mahindra Thar facelift borrows heavily from its larger sibling to give the lifestyle SUV a more premium look. The front fascia adopts a new grille along with circular projector LED headlights and C-shaped LED DRLs. The front bumper is also expected to be carried over from the Roxx, complete with LED fog lights and cornering functions. While the side profile and rear tailgate mounted spare wheel remain largely untouched, the SUV features a freshly designed set of alloy wheels.

Powertrain options and mechanical setup

Under the hood, the Mahindra Thar facelift is expected to continue with the existing engine lineup. Buyers will likely get the same trio of choices consisting of a 1.5-litre turbo diesel, a 2.0-litre turbo petrol, and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel. The smaller 1.5-litre diesel will likely stick to a manual gearbox and rear wheel drive configuration, while the larger engines will continue to offer automatic transmission choices and 4WD capabilities.
