Penalties for missing or expired papers

Operating without a valid certificate attracts heavy fines under the Motor Vehicles Act along with potential impoundment of the vehicle in serious repeat cases. Owners caught with expired clearances cannot simply pay a fine and leave without obtaining a fresh test result from an authorized center.
