Keeway EZI Hypevolt-R performance, price and real test figures

The Keeway EZI Hypevolt-R is worth a closer look if you are considering a premium electric scooter around the Rs 2 lakh mark. Its performance figures put it firmly in the faster end of the electric scooter market, while the three riding modes give buyers different ways to balance speed and range.

Battery and riding modes

The Hypevolt-R uses a 5.04kWh battery pack split across two units. Its riding modes are quite different, so the choice is not just about throttle response.

For regular city use, Normal looks more useful on paper than Eco because the latter's 45kph ceiling could become restrictive on faster roads. Sport is the mode to use when maximum performance matters, although it will naturally be less focused on preserving range.

Hypevolt-R acceleration figures

Published testing was carried out in damp conditions, and the Hypevolt-R managed 0-80kph in 7.49 seconds and 0-100kph in 13.05 seconds in Sport mode. Those figures were quicker than the Ather 450 Apex in the same published comparison, and the scooter was also slightly quicker than a BMW CE 02 tested previously.

Roll-on performance is also strong, with the published figures showing 2.58 seconds for 20-50kph, 3.73 seconds for 30-70kph and 3.96 seconds for 50-80kph. The throttle calibration was described as manageable despite the acceleration, which matters for a scooter that can reach a claimed 115kph.

Braking and India price

The braking setup is adequate at city speeds, but rear ABS can intervene quickly during hard braking from higher speeds. That is something potential owners should keep in mind if they regularly ride on faster roads.

The Keeway EZI Hypevolt-R is priced at Rs 2 lakh ex-showroom and comes to India as a CKD model. It is sold through 44 Benelli and Keeway dealerships across India, placing it in the premium electric scooter category.
