Tata BaaS expanded to six electric cars with separate battery financing

Tata Motors has extended its Battery-as-a-Service ownership model across its entire passenger electric vehicle range to lower initial purchase barriers. The flexible finance structure is now available on all six electric models for personal buyers who want to separate battery costs from the vehicle loan.

Prices for the Tata EV BaaS range

The Tiago EV has the lowest BaaS entry price at Rs 4.69 lakh, while the Harrier EV sits at the other end with a BaaS price of Rs 14.49 lakh. The difference between the normal starting price and the BaaS price ranges from Rs 2.30 lakh on the Tiago EV up to Rs 7.30 lakh on the Harrier EV.

What to know about the financing terms

  • Customers can still buy the electric vehicle with the battery included
  • The monthly battery payment changes according to capacity and loan tenure
  • Tata has partnered with multiple finance companies for the scheme
  • Road tax, insurance and TCS charges are excluded from the quoted prices

Broader market context in India

Mahindra has also introduced BaaS options for the XEV 9S and XEV 9e, while JSW MG India offers similar ownership structures. Buyers should compare total costs including monthly battery payments and daily running assumptions before finalising their purchase.

How does this separate battery payment structure fit into your monthly budget compared to a standard car loan?
