Tata Nexon 2027 Launch: What the New Boxier Design Means

The 2027 Tata Nexon is taking a bigger design step than the usual facelift, and the latest test cars make that clearer. For buyers considering a Nexon now, the main point is that the next generation is expected in 2027 with a more upright body and a redesigned rear.

2027 Nexon Gets A Boxier Shape

The new Nexon appears to have a flatter roof and a more upright rear than the current SUV. The side profile looks more conventional, with prominent wheel arches and redesigned doors and glasshouse. This could create more useful space inside, particularly around rear-seat headroom, although the final production cabin has not been revealed.

The rear also looks less coupe-like. The tailgate is more vertical, while the rear windscreen appears relatively large and gets a conventional wiper mounted at the top. The roof spoiler is visible, but the bumper remains hidden under camouflage.

Fuel Filler Moves Higher

One small detail is worth watching because it points to the extent of the redesign. The fuel filler has moved higher on the rear quarter panel, almost level with the door handles, instead of sitting lower as it does on the current Nexon.

Nexon Interior And Powertrains

Earlier development cars showed some existing Nexon cabin parts, including the steering wheel, infotainment screen and climate controls, but the interior was partly dismantled and fitted with testing equipment. Those parts may therefore not represent the production cabin. A more extensive interior redesign is expected, with the possibility of features from newer Tata models.

A next-generation Nexon EV is expected as well, but detailed powertrain specifications have not been confirmed. The current Nexon is on sale with CNG, diesel and petrol powertrains, with manual, AMT and DCT transmissions and five seats. Its published ex-showroom price is ₹7.37 lakh - ₹14.52 lakh.
