Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Business Gets New Tata Cars Identity
Tata Motors has introduced Tata.cars as the new customer-facing identity for its passenger vehicle business, covering both ICE and EV models. The company says the name formalises how Indian buyers already refer to its cars as "Tata cars," and Tata.ev will continue as a sub-brand sitting under the wider Tata.cars umbrella.
What changes for Tata car buyers
If you are planning to buy a new Tata passenger vehicle or visit an authorised service workshop, you will progressively see the new identity across showrooms, digital touchpoints, after-sales operations and marketing communications over the coming months. Dealerships will start getting updated interiors as part of the rollout.
Where the new identity will show up
- Showroom and dealership interiors, updated over the next few months
- Digital platforms and marketing communications
- After-sales and service operations
- Tata.ev continuing as a sub-brand under the Tata.cars umbrella
- A new principal colour, Ambition Blue, and a bespoke typeface called Parallel Display, part of a design system called Parallel Pathways
Legal identity stays the same
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles remains the registered legal entity for statutory filings, manufacturing plants, official contracts and regulatory obligations. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said Tata.cars is "an identity that India has given us," adding that the Tata name keeps its heritage while Tata.cars gives the passenger vehicle business a more modern expression.
What it means for you
For now this is a brand and visual refresh rather than a change to how the business is run. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said the shift also brings a new sonic identity alongside the colour and typeface changes. Expect to see the Tata.cars name appear gradually at your local dealership and service centre rather than all at once, since the company has described this as a phased rollout rather than an overnight switch.
Do you think a unified brand identity will help improve Tata dealership and service standards?
