Yamaha has officially rolled out the much-awaited YZF-R2 in India, targeting buyers who wanted a step up from the popular 155cc lineup without jumping to a heavy twin-cylinder machine. Deliveries are set to begin in mid-September for those who locked in their pre-bookings early.

Engine specs and weight details
The motorcycle runs on an all-new 204cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor pushing out 26.5 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 19.1 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. It ditches the Deltabox frame seen on smaller sibling models in favor of a 14kg diamond steel frame. This keeps the kerb weight down to 149 kg for the base setup and 150 kg for the upper trims, while the seat height rests at an accessible 810 mm.

Every variant comes equipped with a 12-litre fuel tank, 37mm USD forks, dual-channel ABS, and disc brakes at both ends. Buyers get a 5-inch TFT console with traction control and ride-by-wire modes on all versions. Choosing the top M trim adds preload-adjustable suspension, adjustable levers, a faux-suede seat, and a keyless ignition system.
