Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift launch date and expected price in India

Maruti Suzuki is readying a substantially updated version of the Baleno for launch early next month, the first major refresh for the second-generation hatchback since it arrived over four years ago. The facelift brings revised styling, added equipment, a new CNG-AMT combo and the possibility of advanced driver assistance features on this hatchback for the first time.

What has actually changed

The most visible changes are expected up front, with a redesigned grille said to feature a horizontal chrome element linking the headlamps, sitting above a revised bumper. New alloy wheels are tipped for the sides, while the rear could get its own reworked bumper, though the existing tail-lamp design, roof spoiler and rear wiper look set to carry over. Inside, expect fresh upholstery and a revised dual-tone theme with ambient lighting, while the dashboard layout, nine-inch touchscreen and three-spoke steering wheel are expected to stay familiar.

Expected upgrades include

• CNG version gaining an automatic gearbox for the first time in a Maruti Suzuki, alongside a continuing five-speed manual
• A possible switch from the current 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine to the three-cylinder Z-series unit already seen on the Dzire and Swift
• Ventilated front seats and a single-pane sunroof joining the features list
• An ADAS package that could bring forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and lane-related assistance
• The CNG-AMT combination expected specifically on the Delta and Zeta variants

What it means for buyers

Maruti Suzuki has not detailed pricing beyond signalling a minor increase over the current Baleno once the facelift arrives. The car will continue to take on rivals such as the Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza and Hyundai i20, and the added kit could reshape how the mid-spec variants are positioned once the CNG-AMT option enters the range.
