Hero MotoCorp August 2026 sales: scooters grow 43% YoY

Hero MotoCorp’s August 2026 numbers show a clear shift inside its two-wheeler business. Total dispatches rose 2.65% year on year to 5,68,398 units, but the bigger change is that scooters are growing much faster while motorcycle volumes slipped slightly.

Scooter sales hit 74,547 units

Hero dispatched 74,547 scooters in August, up 42.80% from 52,204 units in August 2025. That is also a 14.95% increase over July’s 64,851 units, taking scooters to 13.12% of Hero’s total August volumes.

For buyers, this is worth watching because Hero has traditionally depended heavily on motorcycles. The company’s Vida electric range also contributed to the scooter growth, with 25,558 EV units dispatched during the month.

Vida EV crosses 25,000 units

Vida recorded 25,558 dispatches in August, while its VAHAN retail registrations grew 38% year on year. Hero has also added the Vida VX2 Go with a 3.1 kWh fixed battery to its electric scooter portfolio.

The numbers suggest Hero is building a larger scooter and EV business alongside its established motorcycle range. Whether that growth continues will be more important than one strong month, especially as buyers get more electric scooter choices.

Hero motorcycle sales dip 1.53%

Motorcycles remained the main volume driver, with 4,93,851 units dispatched in August. However, that was 1.53% lower than the 5,01,523 units recorded in August last year.

Domestic volumes rise while exports fall

Hero’s domestic dispatches reached 5,42,305 units, up 4.46% year on year and 8.16% over July. Exports went the other way, falling 24.56% year on year to 26,093 units and dropping 18.49% from July.

The April to August FY27 numbers are stronger overall. Hero dispatched 27,79,127 two-wheelers during the period, up 17.24%, with scooter sales up 70.93% to 3,32,456 units and motorcycle sales up 12.44% to 24,46,671 units.
