Kawasaki has expanded its dual-sport lineup in America by revealing the new KLX300 XPL alongside other variants. Buyers looking for an adventure-ready motorcycle from international markets will want to know how this compares to what we currently get in India.
American pricing and variant lineup
The Kawasaki KLX300 XPL is priced at USD 6,499 in the United States, which converts directly to approximately Rs 6.17 lakh before import duties and taxes. This travel-focused dual-sport sits alongside several other versions in the international catalog.
- Standard KLX300 base model
- KLX300 DF featuring a hand guard and rear carrier
- KLX300 XPL with a tall windscreen, handguard, and rear carrier
- KLX300 SM supermoto with 17-inch wheels and road tyres
Engine and chassis specifications
All four variants use a liquid-cooled single-cylinder 292cc engine that puts out 26.8hp at 8,000rpm and 24.9Nm of torque at 6,800rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Kawasaki updated the range with revised internals like a new connecting rod bearing design and a repositioned single radiator to fit ABS hardware. The chassis is a double cradle frame with an aluminum swingarm, 43mm USD front forks with adjustable compression damping, and a fully adjustable link-type monoshock at the rear.
Features and electronics
For the updated model year, the lineup gets a round LED headlight on the adventure variant and a redesigned LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity via the Kawasaki Rideology app. Front-wheel ABS comes as standard equipment and can be disabled for off-road riding, though it automatically turns back on when the motorcycle is restarted.
Will the Kawasaki KLX300 come to India?
While this liquid-cooled platform would be a logical step up from the air-cooled 233cc motor found on the current Kawasaki KLX230 sold in India, local enthusiasts have no confirmation yet. Kawasaki India has not announced any plans to bring these liquid-cooled variants to our showrooms.
Would you pay over six lakh rupees for a 300cc dual-sport if Kawasaki decides to launch it here?
