The numbers highlight a heavily concentrated market where compact options take the lion share while midsize choices continue to slide.

Compact sedan sales performance in August

Maruti Dzire retained its top spot comfortably with 18,418 units sold, giving it a 55.96% market share despite a 22.58% drop from July volumes. Hyundai Aura secured second place with 6,685 units, registering solid 25.28% year-on-year growth. Honda Amaze posted the strongest yearly gains among all sedans, with dispatches doubling to 3,512 units. Together, these three models captured roughly 87% of the total sedan volumes for the month.

Midsize sedan sales and declines

Volkswagen Virtus led the midsize category with 1,301 units, though its numbers dropped 22.28% year-on-year. Skoda Slavia followed behind with 897 units, while Hyundai Verna suffered the steepest yearly decline in the segment with sales down 31.39% to 529 units. Honda City managed 514 units with a mild 17.62% yearly increase, and Toyota Camry rounded out the list at 195 units.
