Hyundai has just given us a first look at the 2027 Tucson lineup following its debut in New York City, bringing major propulsion updates and a fresh design. While the current model on sale locally retails at ₹27.32 lakh with estimated on-road pricing reaching roughly ₹30.59 lakh in Delhi and ₹31.69 lakh in Maharashtra, this upcoming generation expands heavily into electrification.
Powertrains and hybrid specs
The new generation introduces dedicated hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants alongside traditional petrol engines ranging from 150 to 193 PS. The hybrid combines a 1.6-litre turbo petrol unit with a 1.49 kWh battery and dual electric motors to output up to 245 PS through a 6-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid steps up to a 17.1 kWh battery pack and a larger electric motor to deliver 292 PS and an 81 km pure electric driving range.
Variant line up and XRT Pro off road gear
Buyers looking for rugged styling get several dedicated options in this global refresh. The new Tucson introduces an XRT variant with sharper exterior styling and an XRT Pro version specifically equipped for rough tracks. The XRT Pro builds in a 210 mm ground clearance which sits 30 mm higher than the standard trim, alongside all terrain tyres, front recovery hooks and expanded lower body cladding.
Art of steel dimensions and colors
The updated SUV grows slightly in size under the new Art of Steel design language, stretching 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall. Exterior highlights feature distinct H-style lighting elements, angular panelling and squared wheel arches. Four fresh paint options join the catalog:
- Ranger Green Pearl or Matte
- Kodiak Blue Pearl
- Driftwood Gray Metallic or Matte
- Red Rock Orange Pearl or Matte
Tech and Pleos Connect infotainment
Cabin technology receives a massive overhaul with the integration of the Android Automotive OS-based Pleos Connect system. Drivers get a choice of 12.9-inch or 17-inch primary touchscreens paired with a 9.9-inch slim display panel. The interior also benefits from Gleo AI for natural voice commands, dual 15W wireless smartphone chargers, three-zone climate control and Level 2+ ADAS safety features.
Would you consider importing or waiting for these plug-in hybrid setups if they eventually make it to our market?
