Denza Z9 GT and D9 India launch: Expected price and details

Denza has officially confirmed its India entry, with an “Arriving soon” announcement for BYD’s luxury EV brand. The first two models expected here are the Z9 GT and D9, giving Indian buyers a new luxury EV option above BYD’s existing range, particularly beyond the Rs 80 lakh mark.

Denza Z9 GT price and performance

The Z9 GT is a four-door shooting brake and will be a rare body style in India. It uses a 122.5kWh battery with three electric motors producing 1,156hp, with power going to all four wheels. The claimed 0-100kph time is 2.7 seconds, while top speed is rated at 270kph.

Its WLTP range is claimed at 600km. The car also gets rear-wheel steering, including a sideways “crab walk” function and a 360-degree rotation feature. Expected pricing is around Rs 1.2 crore to Rs 1.5 crore.

Denza D9 targets the luxury MPV buyer

The D9 is a large luxury MPV aimed at buyers considering models such as the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire. The India-spec version is likely to use a 103kWh battery and a front-mounted motor producing 313hp and 360Nm.

Its claimed WLTP range is 520km, with DC charging support up to 200kW. The expected price is around Rs 90 lakh, which would position it between the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire.

What the Denza interiors offer

Both models are aimed at buyers looking beyond basic EV performance and range, with the Z9 GT and D9 bringing equipment usually associated with the luxury segment.

  • Z9 GT gets a triple-screen dashboard layout
  • Z9 GT has a 20-speaker Devialet sound system
  • D9 uses a 2+2+3 seating layout
  • D9 gets powered, heated, ventilated and massaging captain’s chairs

The Z9 GT also gets Level 2+ ADAS, full leather upholstery and powered, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats. The D9 adds three-zone climate control, powered thigh extenders, Dynaudio audio and ambient lighting.

Denza’s India entry is still ahead of the actual launches, so pricing and India-specific equipment will be worth watching as the brand gets closer to introducing these models. Would you consider a Denza over an MG M9, Toyota Vellfire or another luxury EV?
