Renault Duster hybrid launching in India on October 17

Renault has confirmed October 17 as the launch date for the Duster hybrid in India. The new powertrain joins two existing turbo-petrol options and marks the first time a strong hybrid system has been offered on the Duster in this market. If you have been holding off on buying a Duster waiting for a more fuel-efficient option, that wait now has a fixed end date.

What is the E-Tech hybrid system

Renault calls the new setup the E-Tech hybrid, and the company says it draws on technology developed through its involvement in Formula 1. The system is built around a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with electric motors and a battery, making it a strong hybrid rather than a mild one. Full output figures and the exact battery capacity have not been confirmed ahead of the launch.

Third powertrain for the Duster lineup

The Duster currently sells in India with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol. The E-Tech hybrid will be a third option sitting above these two in the range. Renault has not yet said which trim levels the hybrid will be available on, or whether it will come with an automatic gearbox as standard.
