Electric CV sales jump 155% as Euler Motors reaches No. 2
Electric commercial vehicles are no longer limited to a few fleet operators. Registrations reached 23,540 units in India from January to August 2026, up 155% from about 9,230 units in the same period last year. For buyers running delivery, logistics or other high-use vehicles, the shift is becoming more visible in the numbers.
Small electric cargo vehicles lead demand
Electric light goods carriers are doing most of the work in this market. Their use in e-commerce, FMCG, organised retail, courier work and city deliveries suits the operating pattern where vehicles cover fixed routes every day.
The light goods-carrier category has already crossed the 11,155 units registered during the whole of 2025. At the current pace, registrations could cross 25,000 units in 2026.
Tata Motors still leads electric CVs
Tata Motors registered 7,867 electric commercial vehicles between January and August, giving it about 33% of the market. Around 7,717 of those registrations came from its electric small-commercial-vehicle range, including the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV and Intra EV.
Euler Motors has moved into second place with 4,637 registrations, compared with 330 in the same period of 2025. Its market share has risen from about 4% to nearly 20%.
Euler Motors expands cargo production
Euler's current electric CV range includes the Storm EV T1500, Storm Turbo EV 1000 and Turbo Storm EV Long Range 200. The company has also expanded its Palwal plant with a four-wheeler line capable of supporting up to 24,000 vehicles a year, backed by a ₹100 crore expansion.
For operators, the key numbers are still about running the vehicle rather than just buying it:
- 23,540 electric CV registrations in Jan-Aug 2026
- 155% year-on-year growth in registrations
- Tata Motors recorded 7,867 units
- Euler Motors recorded 4,637 units
- JBM Auto and Olectra recorded 1,057 and 878 electric buses
August also set a monthly record, with 4,702 registrations in FADA data and 4,746 in a subsequent Vahan-based analysis. Heavy electric trucks remain a smaller category, although Sany Heavy Industry recorded 797 units during the eight-month period, including 615 in August.
For anyone considering an electric commercial vehicle, charging access, payload, downtime, battery durability, financing and after-sales support still matter alongside energy cost per kilometre. The market has already passed the 16,695 electric CV registrations recorded across all of 2025.
Are you seeing more electric cargo vehicles on your local delivery routes or in your fleet?
