Global EV Powertrain War Intensifies as Chinese Suppliers Challenge Established Industry Giants

By Turbo Truth News Desk

Chinese companies are challenging established automotive suppliers in the electric vehicle (EV) powertrain ecosystem. This competition is not limited to individual components, but also includes complete electric drive systems that combine multiple functions into a single compact assembly. The dimensions of the electric drive systems being developed by Chinese companies are not specified. Chinese companies including Inovance, Huawei, CRRC Times Electric and several emerging electric drive specialists are expanding their capabilities across motors, inverters, power electronics and integrated propulsion systems. Established automotive suppliers such as Bosch, ZF, BorgWarner, Valeo, Denso, Magna and Schaeffler are facing growing pressure from Chinese companies entering the electric powertrain ecosystem. Chinese automakers supplied approximately 60% of electric cars sold globally. ZF has introduced its SELECT electric drive platform, designed around modular electric motors, power electronics, reduction gears and software. The architecture supports different vehicle requirements and allows manufacturers to select individual components or integrated systems.
