Planning an international driving holiday takes massive logistics, which is why guided road-trip groups like MotoRover are catching on for Indian travellers. Their recent 100th expedition brought a convoy through Norway using a mix of nine Volvo SUVs and BMW motorcycles.

Route details for the Norway drive

The 10-day itinerary started in Oslo with a flag-off overlooking the Oslofjord by India’s Ambassador to Norway, HE Gloria Gangte. Participants tackled several notable stretches and engineering feats over the course of the journey.

• Aurlandsfjellet and Sognefjellet mountain passes
• Trollstigen and the Eagle Road zigzagging routes
• Atlantic Ocean Road with its dramatic sea bridges

How the convoy was structured

Unlike their usual practice of running car and motorcycle tours separately, MotoRover combined both formats for this 26-person expedition. Each group had dedicated guides and support vehicles while following the same daily route and staying at the same hotels.

Highlights along the scenic route

Participants drove to the edge of Jostedalsbreen, which is the largest glacier in continental Europe, and visited medieval wooden stave churches. The return leg to Oslo utilized the Hardanger Scenic Route, complemented by viewpoints like the Stegastein and Geiranger Skywalks.
