Bajaj is preparing to take the Chetak C25 to Brazil, where it is being registered under the electric moped category. For Indian buyers, the interesting part is that the Brazil-spec scooter appears largely unchanged from the C25 sold here, with the main adjustment expected to be its electronically limited speed.
Bajaj Chetak C25 Brazil Moped Rules
Brazil classifies electric two-wheelers as mopeds when the motor output is below 4,000 watts and the top speed is 50 km/h or lower. The Chetak C25 uses a 2,200-watt motor, so it already meets the power requirement. Its Indian version can reach 60 km/h, but the speed can be electronically reduced for the Brazilian market.
The design filing shows familiar Chetak details, including the retro headlamp, handlebar-mounted indicators, dual-tone front apron and ice cube-style tail light. The scooter also retains its curved body panels, flat floorboard, long seat and single-piece grab rail.
