New gen Jeep Compass patent filed in India

Design patent images for the third generation Jeep Compass have recently been filed in India, though the manufacturer has no confirmed local launch plans for this version yet. Given past decisions regarding commercial viability, this filing could simply be an exercise to protect intellectual property rights rather than a sign of an imminent showroom arrival.

Exterior styling and dimensions

The overseas model measures 4550 mm in length with a 2800 mm wheelbase, bringing improved rear legroom and a boot capacity of around 550 litres depending on the powertrain choice. The exterior features sharp lines, squared off wheel arches, a sloped roofline, and a distinctive seven slot grille paired with rugged bumpers.

Powertrain options and range

• Mild hybrid e-Hybrid version uses a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with a 48V motor and a 6-speed DCT to generate 145 hp in front wheel drive
• Plug-in hybrid combines a 1.6-litre turbo petrol with an electric motor to make 195 to 228 hp with an 80 km pure electric range
• Full electric FWD model uses a 74 kWh battery to produce 213 hp and deliver up to 650 km of range on the long-range variant
• Full electric 4xe 4x4 version employs dual motors to push out 375 hp and achieve a range of approximately 600 km

Cabin layout and safety features

Inside, the SUV gets a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, and ambient lighting. The safety kit includes a Selec-Terrain system, front and rear parking sensors, and a Level 2 ADAS suite featuring adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.
